▌創作自述 Artist Statement
馬場美櫻子以被棄置的植物為主題，透過描繪其色彩與「生與死交錯並存」的獨特存在感，來進行創作。作品核心的主題，是探問生命之中「生」與「死」的界線究竟位於何處。
某次，她在園藝店看到被丟棄的仙客來（Cyclamen）被如山般堆放的景象。雖然部分已經枯萎，但莖與花仍殘留著鮮明的色彩，讓她感受到「生」與「死」似乎同時存在於植物之中。
植物從脫離土壤到逐漸枯萎的過程中，以一種緩慢而溫和的方式變化著。在這個過程裡，存在著介於生與死之間、難以明確劃分的「間隙」時刻，而馬場美櫻子深深被這種曖昧且流動的狀態所吸引。
Mioko Baba creates paintings using discarded plants as her motif, focusing on their colors and the unique presence in which life and death coexist. The artist’s work is rooted in the question of where the boundary between life and death lies.
One day, Mioko Baba encountered a striking scene at a gardening shop where discarded cyclamens were piled up like a mountain. Although parts of them had withered, their stems and flowers still retained vivid colors, and she felt as though life and death coexisted within a single plant.
From the moment plants are separated from the soil until they fully wither, they undergo a gentle transformation. Within this process, there are moments that exist in an in-between state—ambiguous instances that could be perceived as either life or death. Mioko Baba is deeply drawn to this liminal condition.
