▌創作自述 Artist Statement
藉由對古代繪畫中動物形象的轉化與再創作，我重新思考人與自然、動物之間既親近又需保持敬畏的關係。對我而言，動物不僅是被觀看或描繪的對象，而是一種同時承載生命力、野性、恐懼與神性的存在。這些複雜而矛盾的情感，透過畫面被具象化，也指向更深層的歷史記憶與文化脈絡。

在創作上，我經常描繪半閉雙眼、呲牙咧嘴的動物形象，並運用大地色系與仿古質感的紋理，強調動物在自然中的主體性與力量感。透過天然土質顏料與膠彩媒材反覆層疊與滲透，讓時間在作品中留下痕跡，使畫面生成如同木頭或石頭經歲月風化般的質地。我亦融合不同文化中的視覺語言，並不試圖給出單一詮釋，而是讓作品在觀者的凝視中，持續生成各自的想像與理解。

Through the transformation and reinterpretation of animal imagery found in ancient paintings, I reconsider the relationship between humans, nature, and animals—a relationship that is both intimate and rooted in reverence. To me, animals are not merely subjects to be observed or depicted; they embody vitality, wildness, fear, and the sacred all at once. These layered and often contradictory qualities are made tangible through my paintings, while also pointing toward deeper historical memory and cultural narratives.

In my practice, I frequently depict animals with half-closed eyes and bared teeth, using an earthy palette and weathered, antiqued textures to emphasize their agency and innate power within the natural world. By repeatedly layering and allowing natural mineral pigments and jiǎocǎi (traditional East Asian color pigments) to permeate the surface, I create traces of time that evoke the weathered qualities of wood or stone shaped by the passage of years. I also draw upon visual languages from different cultures, without seeking to impose a single interpretation. Instead, I invite each work to remain open, allowing meaning and imagination to unfold through the viewer’s gaze.
