▌創作自述 Artist Statement
狗，真的是自由的生物嗎？
某個午後，泰樂瑠花看著一隻正在散步的狗時，不禁這樣想著。當然，牠是被牽著牽繩的。牠搖著尾巴，隨心所欲地走動，但偶爾也會被輕輕拉回來。 狗是如此日常的存在，以至於藝術家泰樂瑠花從未真正對牠們產生疑問。然而，作為生命體，牠們其實非常迷人。對人類而言，牠們是陪伴者，是朋友。在日本，許多狗被人類飼養、被選擇性繁殖，並擁有血統證明。就像牽繩一樣，她開始覺得，這整個系統與環境，對於一個生命而言，或許都是「不自由」的。
然而，藝術家從那隻狗身上卻感受不到任何戲劇性的情緒——沒有對人類的怨恨，也沒有想要掙脫控制的慾望。牠只是搖著尾巴，偶爾抬頭看向牠的主人，然後從她身邊走過。那一刻，她意識到，是她自己將「不自由」的概念投射到了狗的身上。
從那之後，泰樂持續思考關於狗的種種，並將這些想法轉化為創作。她所得到的詮釋是：或許狗是人，而人是狗。
人類其實也總是被某些事物所束縛——金錢、時間、日常生活的規律。在毫無察覺之間，我們早已被看不見的牽繩所綁住。這些牽繩，連接著我們稱之為地球的庭院，並在許多人一生之中持續束縛著他們。
藝術家再次開始思考，狗究竟是怎樣的存在。
Dogs—are they truly free creatures?
One afternoon, Ruca Tairaku found herself wondering this as she watched a dog on a walk. Of course, it was on a leash. Wagging its tail, it strolled about as it pleased, only to be gently pulled back from time to time.
Dogs are such a familiar presence that the artist Ruca Tairaku had never really questioned them before. Yet, as living beings, they are incredibly fascinating. To humans, they are companions—friends. In Japan, many dogs are kept by people, bred selectively, and assigned pedigrees. Like the leash, she began to feel that this entire system and environment might be “unfree” for a living creature.
And yet, Ruca Tairaku sensed nothing dramatic from the dog—no resentment toward humans, no desire to break free from control. It simply wagged its tail, occasionally glancing up at its owner, and passed her by. In that moment, she realized that she had been projecting the idea of “unfreedom” onto the dog.
Since then, she has continued to reflect on dogs, transforming these thoughts into her work. The interpretation she has arrived at is this: perhaps dogs are humans, and humans are dogs.
Humans, too, are always bound by something—money, time, the routines of everyday life. Without even realizing it, we are tethered by invisible leashes. These leashes, tied to the garden we call Earth, bind many people throughout their lives.
Once again, Ruca Tairaku find herself wanting to continue thinking about what kind of beings dogs truly are.
